Since first obtaining this self-rating designation in 2023, the firm has managed the system with notable stability as a platform operator. The self-rating classification system allows operators who meet specific, rigorous criteria to classify their own games.

Leveraging this, Smilegate has accelerated the arrival of various indie titles to the domestic market via its global platform, Stove. By streamlining the classification process, they have effectively helped developers and publishers keep their service schedules on track.

With this re-designation, Smilegate is further strengthening its platform capabilities. They aim to tighten the collaborative loop in distribution and operations for partners on Stove. The company will continue to introduce hard-to-find international indie games while supporting local creators to ensure their titles remain competitive in the market.

Meanwhile, games rated 'Adults Only' must still undergo review by the Game Rating and Administration Committee and the Game Content Rating Board, as per current law. Smilegate continues to guide developers through the necessary statutory review processes for titles that fall into this category.
