An offshoot title for Dave the Diver has been announced, focusing on the culinary journey of the dependable chef, Bancho, as he rises to become a sushi master.

Mintrocket unveiled 'Bancho the Chef' on June 3rd during Sony's 'State of Play'. This standalone prequel title delves into the younger days of Bancho from Dave the Diver, charting his evolution into a sushi artisan. Players will follow Bancho's adventures across various Asian cities, learning diverse local cuisines and experiencing the sheer joy of cooking.

Each region boasts its own culinary master, and you'll be working in their establishments, serving waves of customers. Key cooking processes like eel preparation, grilling, slicing sashimi, and boiling octopus are realised as mini-games, alongside tasks such as shooing away pests or doing the dishes. The iconic tea-serving from Dave the Diver makes a return, and yes, fishing is also included.

In each area Bancho visits, you'll encounter residents with their own unique stories. Resolving their issues boosts your reputation, drawing more patrons to your shop. New ingredients can be gathered through mini-games and events, enabling the creation of novel dishes.

Bancho the Chef is a standalone game, not a DLC, and sports a shift from pixel art to 3D graphics. Its official Steam page is now live, and a PS5 release is confirmed. The release date is yet to be announced.
