Game of Thrones: Kingsroad has now entered its fourth week of service. With a fresh update looming on June 10, the meta remains in its infancy, as the scarcity of high-tier gear and artifacts makes a definitive 'KookminTree' build hard to come by. Nevertheless, the backbone of any serious setup—the set bonuses—has started to emerge. We at KookminTree have crunched the numbers to highlight the key set effects currently dominating player choices.

Structuring your set: '6+6 or 3+3+6'

Equipment set effects are triggered by wearing gear from the same collection. You can activate a 3-piece bonus or a 6-piece bonus. Since there are seven gear slots, you can either aim for one 6-piece bonus or combine two 3-piece bonuses. And,Auxiliary set effects are unlocked through research. You can only have one active at a time; level 1 research grants a 3-piece bonus, while level 2 grants the 6-piece bonus.

Therefore, every character should aim for one 6-piece auxiliary set, combined with either one 6-piece equipment set or two 3-piece equipment sets. Keep in mind that equipment set efficiency scales with the grade of the gear, so prioritize your main set as your equipment set.

The 'Scholar' set: An absolute staple

The Scholar 3-piece set grants passive rage generation and boosts attack power for 6 seconds every time you use a skill. The 6-piece set pushes skill damage even further. It is most efficient when chaining two or more skills. Furthermore, the 6-piece effect offers a chance to recover rage and reduce skill cooldowns upon defeating an enemy.

Because of these traits, the Scholar set shines in the late game when your skill cycles are fluid, rather than early on when you are starved for rage. Looking at the current rankings for momentum and Elite Hideout, the majority of players are already proving its worth.

More skill spam: 'Storm Knight'

As the name implies, the Storm Knight set is all about relentless aggression. Wearing 3 pieces grants the 'Storm' buff, which increases damage output every time you land a basic attack or a strike combo. This buff lasts for 5 seconds and stacks up to 10 times, allowing you to maintain a constant 13% damage increase if you keep the pressure on.

Completing the 6-piece set shifts your playstyle into high gear. Once the Storm buff hits 10 stacks, it transforms into the 'Typhoon' buff, boosting damage and attack speed for 5 seconds. On top of that, it instantly cuts skill cooldowns by 50%, making it a match made in heaven with the aforementioned Scholar set.

Pure aggression: 'Berserker'

The biggest draw of the Berserker set is that it requires no complex conditions and is always active. It boosts your damage dealt while reducing damage taken—a solid choice for any build.

However, the 6-piece set comes with a heavy penalty: your HP is capped at 35%. In the current landscape where gear tiers are still low, this is often a death sentence. In fact, wearing Berserker with less than 10,000 base HP is essentially digging your own grave. That said, as it is considered top-tier in North America, this assessment might change after the June 10 update.

Maximum efficiency for 3 pieces: 'Guardian'

The Guardian set, even at just 3 pieces, grants the 'Protector' effect, which converts 500 points of defense into a 4% attack boost, up to a maximum of 20%. Since top-ranked players currently sit around 2,000 defense, you are guaranteed at least a 12% attack increase.

Conversely, the other effects of the Guardian set are lackluster. They only trigger when you take damage, which goes against the grain of skilled gameplay that emphasizes dodging. Stick to using Guardian only as two 3-piece combinations.

So, which set should you choose?

We highly recommend the Scholar (6) and Storm Knight (6) combo. In the late game, rage is plentiful, and the synergy between these two is unmatched. Do keep in mind, however, that the Storm Knight's buff only lasts 5 seconds, so you need to be precise with your skill timing to maximize the Typhoon buff window.

If you prefer a more comfortable experience, go with Scholar (6) and Berserker (6). Since the Berserker effect is always active, there is no need to worry about buff uptime. You will have to be mindful of the HP penalty, but it becomes less of an issue as your gear improves and you get a feel for the game.

For those who just want to play without overthinking it, a mix of Guardian (3), Berserker (3), and Scholar (6) is the way to go. You gain passive damage reduction and defense scaling, keeping you stable, while the Scholar set covers your offensive needs.

Compared to the sets above, 'Gambler' and 'Destroyer' are hard to recommend in the current meta. The Gambler set relies entirely on successful parries, but since parrying is disabled in key boss encounters like the Altar of Memories, Ferocious Beasts, and the upcoming Altar of the Abyss, its utility is severely limited. Unless a 'Just Guard' mechanic is introduced, it remains niche.

The Destroyer set is also underwhelming. It is designed to deal massive damage to staggered enemies, but in the current state of combat, triggering multiple staggers in a single fight is rare. Unless future content makes stagger damage the core of the meta, this set will remain inefficient for the time being.
