Nexon announced on August 18 that a Union system overhaul update has been applied to MapleStory M. With this revamp, the Union system replaces the traditional combat map layout with a point-allocation method where players directly distribute points to acquire stats. Alongside this, free job advancement has been introduced for all job classes, accompanied by several other improvements aimed at boosting overall gameplay convenience.

The reworked Union system drops the old grid-filling mechanic in favour of letting players directly allocate points to stats of their choice, making character progression a whole lot smoother. On top of that, characters at level 200 or above can now switch to any job via free job advancement. When switching jobs, rental equipment matching the stat profile of the new job will be provided, keeping things roughly on par with previous gear.

A slew of quality-of-life updates have rolled out alongside the rework. A new combat power guide now suggests boss encounters based on a player's current strength, helping everyone figure out what bosses to tackle next. Other neat additions include permanently unlocked pocket slots, the removal of buff freezers, bulk soul crafting, an increased Sol Erda holding limit, and expanded default slots for both inventory and storage.

Meanwhile, to celebrate the Chuseok holiday, Nexon is rolling out a Super Week event running from September 24 to October 5. This event features a fresh hot time event supporting great soul acquisitions and a level 5 or higher HEXA main stat boost. Furthermore, starting October 1, celebrations for the 10th anniversary of MapleStory M will kick off sequentially with a 10th-anniversary shop and a 10th-anniversary countdown attendance event.
