A Diablo TRPG, officially licensed by Blizzard, is coming soon.

Glass Cannon Unplugged—the studio behind board game adaptations for The Last of Us, Apex Legends, Frostpunk, and the Dying Light series—launched the Kickstarter page for the Diablo TRPG on the 5th. This project is being brought to life through a collaboration with Genuine Entertainment and Blizzard.

The Diablo TRPG promises to let you craft your own version of Sanctuary using a core rulebook spanning over 300 pages and standard six-sided dice. The rules are being spearheaded by Joe LeFavi, the developer behind the Blade Runner TRPG, and Przemysław Zub, who worked on the Dying Light board game. The development team is further bolstered by industry heavyweights like John Harper, creator of Blades in the Dark, and Cam Banks, known for the Marvel Heroic Roleplaying game.

The game aims to capture the essence of the original hack-and-slash experience, focusing on intense combat and the thrill of hunting for legendary loot. It all boils down to the choices players make in a world teeming with demons and grotesque monstrosities. Survival against merciless foes and unspeakable horrors is the name of the game. Along the way, players will encounter the 'Eternal Conflict' and a 'push-your-luck' mechanic, though details on the latter remain thin on the ground for now.

When it comes to weaving the lore of Sanctuary into book form, the team has recruited Micky Neilson, a veteran who has contributed to the worlds and novels of StarCraft, WarCraft, and Diablo. They are joined by Francesco Nepitello and Umberto Pignatelli, the minds behind the The One Ring TRPG, alongside various other writers who have built their reputations in the realms of horror and fantasy tabletop gaming.

The Diablo TRPG will be available in both physical and digital formats to cater to both tabletop purists and Diablo fans. The Kickstarter page suggests that miniature figures representing classes like the Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue, and Sorcerer will be released as well. Whether other classes from the series, or perhaps the new 'Spiritborn' class featured in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, will make an appearance remains unconfirmed. Depending on your pledge tier, you can also expect various physical goods, such as maps and collector's prints.
