In a dystopian future where AI has taken over the labor market, humans are left with nothing but simple parts-sorting tasks. 'LOW VALUE JOB,' a job simulation game featuring this unique premise, has opened its Steam page. It is a game where players immerse themselves in repetitive, menial labor and find a strange sense of relief in simple tasks.

Developed by the Japanese indie studio Yayoi Kaihatsu, 'LOW VALUE JOB' is set in the year 2030. All meaningful and high-level jobs have been replaced by machines, robots, and algorithms. As a human player, you are tasked with the simple job of picking up scattered bolts, nuts, and washers from a desk, observing them, and sorting them accurately into their respective bins. The game offers an experience of accumulating meaningless numbers through such 'Low Value' tasks.

The game modes are divided into a single-player mode where you silently complete your workload, and an online multiplayer mode for up to eight players. In the online mode, players compete to see who can sort 100 parts faster and more accurately. The game even incorporates workplace stressors, such as hearing a colleague's coughing or muttering in the background, reflecting the reality of a work environment.

The developers explained that the game pursues the sense of growth and tranquility that comes from simple, repetitive tasks. They added that the worthlessness of the job depicted in the game is merely a narrative device for the dystopian setting and is not intended to belittle the hard work of actual professionals.

'LOW VALUE JOB' is scheduled to be released on Steam this coming January.
