Progression in Arthdal Chronicles is all about the main questline. The narrative carries you through the continent, but you’ll hit bottlenecks when tasked with grinding specific monster kill counts. Ranged classes absolutely dominate this phase for efficiency, though a well-geared melee character can hold their own.

If speed is your priority, pick Archer, Dang-ri, or the Stormcaster. Among the top-tier players, the popularity trends towards Archer, followed by Stormcaster and Dang-ri. Cleric is another solid contender, especially for battlefield content. Before the arrival of specific anti-healing effects like the Assassin’s 'Deathly Flower' or the 'Worsened Wound' debuff, the Cleric’s healing remains unmitigated and incredibly potent. If you want to be the team’s lifeblood, this is your only real choice.

If you prefer the visceral feel of melee combat, look at the Assassin or the Paladin. The choice is simple: go with the Assassin if you want to deliver massive burst damage, or stick with the Paladin if you value survivability and sustained brawls.

The Assassin, the latest addition to the roster, is a light-armour melee damage dealer. With high burst potential, status effects, and multiple gap-closers, the Assassin is a nightmare to escape. While the Assassin might not be the most common class overall, they account for 30% of the top 100 power-ranked players, making them a firm favourite among the server's elite.

A. You can swap them at any time, so choose one that complements your main class’s traits.

Once your main class is set, it’s time to look at sub-classes. Don't worry about melee versus ranged here; focus on the 'Common Skills' instead. Keep an eye on skill grades—the higher, the better. If you’re lucky enough to land a Hero-grade common skill, that class is an auto-include as your sub-class.

Most players will be weighing Rare-grade skills, which are far easier to acquire via in-game currency or events. Sub-classes provide distinct stat bonuses: the Warrior excels in stuns and damage reduction, the Cleric in healing, and the Archer in evasion.
