The long-teased WASD movement scheme has officially arrived on League of Legends live servers. You can now put it to the test in every mode, save for Summoner's Rift ranked and standard matches.

Riot Games released the 25.24 patch notes on their official website on the 3rd, covering the usual updates like season end dates and champion balance tweaks. The headline act, however, is the full integration of WASD controls on live servers.

You are free to experiment with WASD in custom games, Quick Play, ARAM, and special game modes like Arena, ARAM: Clash, and U.R.F. Just don't expect to be using it in the competitive grind of Summoner's Rift ranked or normal games.

Curiously, some players in Korea are reporting that the feature remains unavailable regardless of the mode. When we pressed Riot Games on this, they explained, "With updates of this magnitude, some features can take a day or two to roll out fully," assuring us that those currently locked out will have access shortly.

This control scheme first surfaced on the PBE back in August. Early testers were largely impressed, specifically noting that 'kiting'—keeping your distance while firing—feels much snappier. That said, a few skeptics are already worried about the balance between traditional mouse movement and the new WASD setup.
