Look, let's be honest, Nexon is bringing the digital grind into the real world. On August 11, Nexon announced a collaboration with IsCreative to launch an escape room cafe titled 'MapleStory Escape' on September 21. Located near the main gate of Hongik University in Mapo-gu, Seoul, this venue will remain open until September 20, 2028, translating the game's lore and iconic regions into physical escape room puzzles. Accommodating groups of two to six players, regular bookings will open every Monday at 10:00 AM via YES24.

MapleStory Escape consists of five distinct themes that will open sequentially. First, on September 21, the thriller theme 'Kerning City' and the arcade theme 'Mu Lung' will debut. Following that, the spooky theme 'Haunted Mansion' arrives on September 28, the infiltration theme 'Edelstein' on October 5, and the arcade theme 'Ludibrium' on October 12. Each theme is designed to capture the unique regional traits and genre-specific mechanics of the original game.

The narrative backdrop kicks off deep within the Dimensional Library, where five books with missing endings are discovered. Participants jump into the stories as brave heroes set against the backdrop of Maple World, tasked with fixing narrative distortions, recovering 'Dimensional Fragments', and completing the missing conclusions.

Nexon is also rolling out a variety of launch events. First off, an exclusive early-booking period running until September 27 will be provided for users with a MapleStory character of level 270 or higher by issuing them membership codes. During this first week, teams achieving the daily record-fastest completion times will be awarded acrylic stands featuring the respective escape room theme design alongside iconic MapleStory characters. Meanwhile, out on the streets of Hongik University, NPC characters from Kerning City including Dark Lord, Dal Segno, and Shumi will make appearances, hosting the 'Kerning City in Hongdae' event where winning a mini-game earns participants an 'Escape L-Holder'.

Special events featuring content creators are also on the horizon. From October 9 to October 11, a three-day private rental event dubbed 'Maple Escape Day' will take place, where prominent MapleStory creators such as Sekyul, Pangiyo, Honorary Medal, Cheongmyo, and Jingyeok Cannon will step in as part-time cafe staff for a rather cheeky experience. Applications for this event are open until August 27.

On top of that, a match prediction event is also in the works. Entertainers Seo Chul-gu and Heo Sung-beom, alongside MapleStory creators Tayo and Ira333, are set to face off in an escape room showdown, with prediction voting opening on August 17. Participants will receive the 'Detective Chair', while users who correctly guess the outcome will be rewarded with the 'Hallo-Cat Damage Skin (Unit) Voucher'.
