Capcom has unveiled the details of the third free update for Monster Hunter Wilds, featuring a Final Fantasy 14 crossover and a fearsome Elder Dragon set to land in December.

During an online broadcast on the 24th to celebrate the eve of Tokyo Game Show 2025, Capcom dropped a slew of updates and fresh news. The headline grabber? The arrival of 'Gogmazios' in December, the first true Elder Dragon for Monster Hunter Wilds.

As those who survived Monster Hunter 4G might remember, the Gogmazios was a notorious final boss with a reputation for being a proper nightmare. It retains that iconic look with the Dragonator impaled in its back, and barring the Gore Magala, it stands as the first Elder Dragon to join the roster in Monster Hunter Wilds. The December update will also bolster the end-game content, introduce seasonal events, and roll out various quality-of-life improvements.

The third free update, dropping on the 29th, is all about that Final Fantasy 14 crossover. We already knew about 'Omega Planetes' back in August, but now we have a better look at it locking onto hunters before firing off massive fists and unleashing torrents of flame and lasers. Given the developer's hint that 'special gimmicks' will be essential, it’s a fair bet this is a multiplayer encounter.

Players can also look forward to gear inspired by the Dark Knight and Pictomancer jobs. The new 'Adversity Armor Alpha' series allows hunters to trigger the 'Blackest Night,' the signature defensive move of the Dark Knight, while the Great Sword 'Shadowbringer' comes with its own unique weapon skill.

The Pictomancer-themed gear is just as unique; by placing tokens in the item pouch, hunters can cast painting magic and even combine sketches to unleash the powerful 'Moogle Torrent.' To round it all off, Capcom is adding cosmetic items and gestures based on iconic Final Fantasy staples like Chocobos, Morbols, and Cactuars.

Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto shared a message for the fans: "We are truly grateful for the diverse feedback and requests sent by our players. The development team is actively reviewing this feedback to implement fixes and improvements, and we are committed to ensuring a smoother hunting experience for everyone."

Elsewhere in the Capcom TGS 2025 showcase, we saw a new trailer for Pragmata (now slated for 2026), a narrative teaser for Onimusha: Path of the Blade, a Street Fighter 6 collaboration with The Night of the Kamaitachi, the story direction for Monster Hunter Stories 3, and a deep dive into the Mega Man Star Force Perfect Collection.
